It’s hard to be a parent in 2020 because everyone is such a dick.

I sent a text message to my best friend this morning that said this:

It’s so much harder being a parent now.

Everyone everywhere is such a dick.

It’s really got me down.

And it does.

Being a parent in 2020 is really hard for a lot of complicated reasons but also for one very simple one. People can be such dicks.

I woke up this morning with that feeling in the pit of my stomach. One that feels like a hangover mixed with impending doom. I knew I had to peek at this morning’s headlines but I almost felt too physically sick to do it. I knew what the news would say. It would say that the Democratic House Impeachment Managers proved that the President attempted to extort Ukraine into investigating his political opponent in exchange for federally approved military aid. That no one disputes those facts and nearly every single Republican doesn’t want to bother wasting a single minute calling a witness because everyone already knows this is true. Also the President admitted to it.

But they are just going to end this trial with no witnesses and vote to acquit him so that the voters can decide how they feel about all the crimes.The equivalent of this argument would be if somebody robbed a bank and murdered all the tellers and though it was objectively bad and against the law, we decided to take a vote to see whether or not we should punish the robbers and…
